The pestilence had to reach us sooner or later

Having spent the last two years being paranoid about transmitting it to the sheltered flats where my father now lives, I suspect I may have caught it there - we were there twice last weekend, our usual Sunday lunch, and a crowded and three-year family fun day the day before. Anyway, I woke up feeling a bit of a cold forming on Tuesday morning, tested positive, spent the next couple of days feeling extremely groggy, and now I'm fine but Wellinghall got a second line this morning.

Fingers crossed for him to bounce back quickly, as we have plans for next week.

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better, and hope the same for wellinghall.

Something similar happened to me - I was concerned about bringing it home and my parents catching it - and then my mother got it from a friend and we got it from her. (They're fine as well.)

I'm so sorry to hear that; I hope that it's very mild for Wellinghall and that Little Star and your father escape it entirely. We are still getting several hundred cases a day here but very few hospitalisations or deaths.
